9/10 dog owners tell us their pooches are happy in a MINI. And for good reason. There are so many things that make MINIs an excellent choice for dog owners, including the easy access, low base and spacious boot. Dig into the results of our survey to find out exactly what dogs enjoy about our cars, and find out which model was best-loved.

MINI LOVES DOGS. 9/10 DOGS LOVE MINI.

We’re barking mad about dogs here at MINI. And with more UK families than ever welcoming canines into their lives this past year, we thought what better time to explore how to help dogs travel happier. <br /> <br />So, we teamed up with the canine behaviour experts at Dogs Trust to understand what makes dogs’ tails happy-wag when it comes to cars. Together we developed a questionnaire, which we took to our drivers to complete.

HOW TO SPOT A HAPPY DOG.

First things first. What defines a happy dog? Before we could ask MINI owners if their dogs were happy or not, we needed to know which behaviours to watch out for. <br />Dogs Trust helped us identify which positive signs and signals you should look out for when on the road with your pooch. We asked survey respondents to quantify ‘happy dogs’ as ones who: <br /> <br />- Are eager and willing to get in the car <br /> <br />- Settle down easily once inside <br /> <br />- Have enough space to comfortably stand, sit and lie down

THE PROOF IS IN THE PUPPING.

<br />Our drivers were eager to send their doggy tales to us, with hundreds responding to the survey. We analysed 1,000 of the responses to discover that 91% of drivers said their dog was happy in a MINI. With more than half reporting all three happy travelling behaviours. <br /> <br />

LEADER OF THE PACK.

The favourite among the pack was the MINI Clubman, with an even higher feel-good figure of 95%.

A LITTLE BIT OF LUXURY.

The survey uncovered that miniature dog owners were the ones most likely to bring their bed or carrier from home on a car journey. Comfy stuff. And their favourite feature of a MINI? The high-quality interior materials, of course.

BIG LOVE FOR MINI.

<br />It’s not just little dogs who love MINIs. Over half of the large and extra-large dog owners who responded said they chose their car because it was big enough for their dog.

SITTING PRETTY.

We discovered most MINI owners drive with their dogs on the back seat. Larger dog owners opted for the boot – in fact, the spacious boot was large dog owner’s favourite feature about their car.
